φ-meson mass in nuclear matter (m∗φ) is investigated using an effective Lagrangian of φ interacting with octet baryons. m∗φ decreases by a few % in nuclear matter due to the current conservation and effective nucleon/hyperon masses. We analyze hyperon and nucleon mass shifts in nuclear matter using chiral perturbation theory. Expressions for the mass shifts that include strong interaction effects at leading order in the density are derived.
